Hi Folks

I'm seem to have a problem with Google Analytics showing there are 42,700 pages on our forums with redirects, and that this is a huge issue with content not being indexed.

When I look into it within the Analytics, its showing forum page URL's, but with this on the end:

/?do=findComment&comment=281507

Over 1000 pages of these errors...

How do we turn this off so that any URL that is presented with this on the end of it, doesn't work or produces a 404?

Thanks

/?do=findComment&comment=281507

The format above there is intended to redirect to an anchor as it goes to a particular comment. It is not a bad thing that it does as it isn't something really intended to be indexed and our robots.txt included in the software actually directs robots to not index it.

Thanks, Jim. It's been like this for years now, and Google clearly doesn't like it and totally sees it as a big problem.

Any idea when the "Reduce links" feature will be available?

It is available in the latest release of version 4. 404s will slowly dissipate from Google's webmaster console. 404s are a natural part of a dynamic website. Google brings these up for your action in case you need to take action but if the link no longer exists, it is completely natural and you can ignore. Google will slowly phase that link out of it's index.
