Hello,
One main reason I want to move to the cloud is the security protection.

Which type of security is IPB clouds using to protect servers? What kind of proxy, for example?

Do you guarantee 24/7 protection from DDOS and other malicious sources?

We utilize the latest best practice security techniques in an enterprise grade WAF protection. Our Cloud team is constantly evaluating and analyzing our current infrastructure and new best practices to continue to ensure we give our customers the best protection. If you have specific questions, we can get you in touch with our Sales and Cloud team.

My self-hosted forum is protected via Cloudflare, which takes control of the DNS.

But my site keeps crashing because attackers direct the attack directly to my server IP.(I have no firewall)

Does moving to ipb cloud solve for me this iisue? @Jim M

We have DDoS protection built in.

WAF managed by us is provided, yes.

WAF is a layer 7 firewall protection, what about layer 3-4?

We have our own internal firewall protection. Everything is managed. You do not need to worry about it.

Layer 3/4 would be the network and transport layers, which would be the DDoS protection.

It would actually be worth thinking of it another way here

The idea really isn't that you get the 'security protection', but more that its not something you have to think about. We take care of that. We adjust existing protections are needed, add new where needed etc. You quite simply, just leave that to us. The only security you should have to think about yourself is your sites setup, such as who has admin permissions, what captchas you use, your password policy etc. Anything server or network side is "You deal with it" 🙂

Great. Thank you.

My current forum version is Invision Community v4.7.17.

When shifting to the cloud, can I remain on this version and keep controlling the upgrades manually?
Will every 3d party app run perfectly on my self-host server will keep running on the cloud?

Thanks.

I will explain a little bit more clearly my second question

Could this be a scenario where a third-party app will run on the self-host but not on the cloud?

When you move to our cloud environment, you would be upgraded to the latest release of the platform. From that point on, you would then upgrade using the ACP as you do currently.

In terms of 3rd party items, you would need to speak to the individual authors. We have had items that will not run on cloud, although it doesnt tend to be many at all. But we cannot answer for certain as we have not written those items. Only the authors would know that

It's worth contacting sales so we can get a better idea of what attacks you find yourself receiving. We do have WAF and traffic scrubbing but we'd have to be careful about taking on a site that is known for attracting DDoS attacks.
