Image links require https all http links disappear

Is there anyway around this?  I have been updating several of our image links and we do not use the https option as it is very expensive and really not needed for our purposes.  So any image we have in our own site files do not work.  Is there any work around to this?

Type 'images' into the search bar in the ACP to find the above settings.
