Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
AquilaTempestas Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Hi everyone. I put in a request to have a mobile app done via the AdminCP but it's been over a year and nothing has happened. When can I expect my forum to show up on the app?
Solution Jim M Posted December 30, 2021 Solution Posted December 30, 2021 Sorry, our mobile app was discontinued for some time now and for the foreseeable future at this time. We removed it from all references in our software in lieu of building out PWA more fully in our software. There is a little more information about PWA in 4.6 here: https://invisioncommunity.com/news/invision-community/web-push-notifications-native-sharing-offline-support-r1222/ SeNioR- 1
Randy Calvert Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 You would not need Admob. It’s designed for native apps. PWA (Progressive Web Apps) create a wrapper basically around a Mobile friendly website to make it look/feel like a native app when in fact it’s just making standard web calls. It would have its own icon on the phone screen, you can suppress the browser controls itself, etc. You can continue showing just normal Google Adsense ads or whatever you’re using to monetize your site. bern5 Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 So would the PWA app icon look more like your own website rather than the 'communities' app icon? and just opens up your site direct.

You can set your icons in your ACP. PWA is essentially a browser opening your community. It just has a few “app-like” features. bern5 1

Randy Calvert Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 Yes. Once you add it to the home screen, it should launch similar to an actual app. You can control for example if it show the browser back/forward/url buttons, what icon to show when launching, etc. SeNioR- and bern5 2
