Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted November 2, 20213 yr I migrated my forum from vbulletin. I also had many images in a custom folder. I uploaded that folder to my web space and the images are shown but are not part of the images uploaded in the discussion. Is there a way to show those images as uploaded in the discussion?
November 2, 20213 yr Community Expert Solution I migrated my forum from vbulletin. I also had many images in a custom folder. I uploaded that folder to my web space and the images are shown but are not part of the images uploaded in the discussion. Is there a way to show those images as uploaded in the discussion? If I am understanding you correctly, these weren't uploaded via vBulletin or our software and were just added as an image URL to the content? If so, only items uploaded through the software (or converted software) would show up as an attachment. Items simply added from an external source from the software, would not be seen as an attachment.
November 2, 20213 yr Community Expert yes but it's a url of my site I'm afraid, it is uploaded outside of the software, it would not be an attachment. Attachments are only items uploaded to our software or converted software.
November 2, 20213 yr You can link to the object itself simply by pasting the URL. For example, the above image was taken from the IPS homepage (https://sitecontent.invisioncommunity.com/client-logos/evernote.png). However it would not be an "attachment", meaning you find it in the "Other Media" section. If you have the Gallery product, you could add each of the images to a gallery and link to those potentially as well.
November 3, 20213 yr I migrated my forum from vbulletin. I also had many images in a custom folder. I uploaded that folder to my web space and the images are shown but are not part of the images uploaded in the discussion. Is there a way to show those images as uploaded in the discussion? Perhaps you could explain this bit a little better ? For example if you have a folder Quote /public_html/forums/yourcustomimages/images.png etc And put a link in a post Quote https://yourdomain/forums/yourcustomimages/images.png The image should show in the post, so if thats the case and yours isn't showing then something must be setup wrong...
November 3, 20213 yr Community Expert I see this was marked as solved. Please let us know if you have what you need there
November 4, 20213 yr Author The images are on my server ... I wanted to know if there was a way to import them as post images. Edited November 4, 20213 yr by Ricsca
November 4, 20213 yr Community Expert There would be no way in which to add them as attachments, unless you actively edit posts and do that yourself
