I guess you would have to do some edits to several templates to achieve this. If you can't do it by your own and it is really important for you:

Currency symbols and the price formatting come from your servers locale.

Make sure that your language pack is using the correct locale (AdminCP > Customisation > Languages > Edit Language pack (s))

Thanks @Stuart Silvester but I'm using Cloud. Is there a setting anywhere where I can change the format and put the symbol in front?

As you're a Cloud customer, I would suggest raising a ticket via the client area to ask for help.

You'll see a support popup in the lower right corner.

This isnt achievable other than selecting the correct locale for your language pack. You can do this on cloud from your language pack also
