Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Square Wheels Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 I have made no changes to any of my sites. I have the same themes installed on all sites, use the same Google ad code I've used for years, happens in all themes. All was fine until a week or two ago. I make very little from Google, but these are hobby sites, so whatever I can get is needed. Below are from Chrome. Ads off Ads on It looks even odder with the purchased themes.
AlexWebsites Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 I get this as well sometimes, blank ads. If google has nothing to show they still stretch the placement out, which sucks. Also, Google introduced auto ads with every ad code now, so make sure this isn’t causing your issue.
Square Wheels Posted November 3, 2019 Author Posted November 3, 2019 That issue I displayed is showing at the top, but I only display ads at the bottom.
Square Wheels Posted November 17, 2019 Author Posted November 17, 2019 I figured out part of it, Google introduced Auto Ads and turned them on by default. I turned them off. I know it can take a little while for it to reset, I reset the ads on Adsense yesterday. The add displays properly in the footer, but I have a huge blank space at the top of the site now. It does not matter how I configure it, I have that huge blank space. Any thoughts?

If you remove the ad code, is the space gone? What’s happening more then likely is that’s your google tag is displaying the placement with no ad to serve which I think google should stop doing. Try a different browser and clearing your browser cache.

I always tell others that, I should have tried that. I have never opened the site in Edge (mostly because I never use it). It worked fine. I cleared my Chrome data and all is well. Thank you
Mike Gholson Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 Yeah, I had the same experience with Google Auto Ads working correctly with IPB. So, I turned it off. It's better to place your own ads.
