Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted March 1, 20195 yr Hi, I've noticed that the profile images are resized from 100x100 to 34x34, is there anyway to regenerate the images so that they are the right size for the right placements? Cheers
March 1, 20195 yr Short answer: no. By the way: Scaled images in the suite is a feature, even though speed check services might flag it as problem. The profile images are displayed in various sizes while you browse an IPS community, but the same cached image is always being used, which reduces the page load in that sense. Serve the “right size” in every situation means you have to deliver 5 or so separate images instead of one for every single user.

Serve the “right size” in every situation means you have to deliver 5 or so separate images instead of one for every single user. And then maintain them on the backend to ensure orphaned images don't get left on disk, consuming disk space unnecessarily. It's, admittedly, a trade off in this case.
