Posted January 17, 20196 yr Hello, Is there a solution to translate dates when the use of "locales" ( locale -a etc ) is not possible ? Alpine Linux ( musl libc ) does not support "locale" systems. 🖥️🔨
January 17, 20196 yr Community Expert It depends on what dates. Some dates are controlled by locale, so in that case no, however many are not controlled by locale. See the following guide which shows information on this https://invisioncommunity.com/4guides/themes-and-customizations/languages-and-localization_326/changing-date-formats-r267/
January 17, 20196 yr I would encourage you to use a different distribution of Linux if you need locale support.

See the following guide which shows information on this https://invisioncommunity.com/4guides/themes-and-customizations/languages-and-localization_326/changing-date-formats-r267/ Unfortunately, the dates I want to translate are controlled by locale. 😪 I would encourage you to use a different distribution of Linux if you need locale support. It's a pity, Alpine Linux is really a very, very good and extremely light distribution. I was hoping that an alternative solution existed (at the php level) but apparently not.
January 21, 20196 yr Yeah, unfortunately if you need to use a different locale than what is built into the distribution and it doesn't support that, you may need to look elsewhere. I did find workarounds at the server level (https://github.com/gliderlabs/docker-alpine/issues/144) but note that any issues related to locales in such an environment would be outside of our control or ability to assist with.
