Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
JohnCourt Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 Dear folks, after all this time of owning IP I am finally diving into creating databases and custom articles with custom fields etc. So far I have only been able to list articles, but I cannot get any intro text or intro images to show. I have followed the help guide at to build a recipe page, that is all well, but when it comes to listing the article in a block, or even a page, I cannot, can someone point me to some documentation for triggering intro text and images natively? Thanks folks
opentype Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 You need to activate the article mode for the fronpage in the database settings. That creates the blog layout with image and teaser text.
JohnCourt Posted March 11, 2018 Author Posted March 11, 2018 Thanks Open, I'll do that and report back, thanks so much!
JohnCourt Posted March 11, 2018 Author Posted March 11, 2018 Well that suggestion did help me change it on a page view, I have intro text with an intro image now! But when it comes to blocks, the articles still only show up as a list, any further suggestions Open? Thanks for your help
opentype Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 There are no different stock options for Pages blocks. You can check out my SuperGrid template set. It contains a better block template.

Since there is no native ability, then the only alternative is? Thanks for your help, I'll surf on over and see the SuperGrid, thanks again.
Joel R Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 There are two ways of adding intro text, both of which require customization of template. You can add a new custom field (call it something like Teaser) or you can truncate the first line of your article. In both cases you will need to customize the templates. The easier approach is to get the super templates by Opentype.
JohnCourt Posted March 11, 2018 Author Posted March 11, 2018 Thanks Joel, will the teaser field show up in a block?
