System → Posting → Maximum image dimensions to display

In the description text of that field is a link to rebuild existing images after a change of the field settings.

Well, the “display size”, however that is. It can be quite large and doesn’t have to be “thumbnail” size. And it’s the thing that can safely be changed and rebuilt. If you touch the originals, you can easily destroy all your uploads with a faulty setting.

Why do you want to change them? If you run out of space, it might be better to consider the S3 hosting or a server change.

The setting you are looking for is Max image size to save, not display.

This will resize all uploaded images and save you a great deal of sick space.

of course, I set it up " Max image size to save ". This works great. But only for new uploads..

Is there any task to rebuild original images? (" rebuild existing images " affects only thumbnails... :(

Not currently I’m afraid.
