IPB 4 really slow (Upgrade issue?)

I plan on upgrading my old 3.4 boards to the latest IPB 4 version.

Of course, before doing that on a live install, I tested it on a test installation.

So I made a 1:1 copy of my site (only difference: subdomain and license key has -TESTINSTALL added) and ran the upgrade.
The upgrade went without any issues - but IPB 4 seems to have issues.

It has a LOT of slowdowns and often even times out.

Part from the logfile:

[Sat Sep 12 12:22:13.207015 2015] [core:error] [pid 17856] [client 87.134.20.133:58870] End of script output before headers: index.php, referer: http://betaboard.openpandora.org/admin/?adsess=etoc0kihlotnc33mndhkop8f40&app=core&module=customization&controller=themes&do=form&id=1

IPB3 (http://boards.openpandora.org/) which is hosted on the exact same server runs fine, without any issues.

Has something gone wrong with the update? Any idea where I can check for issues?
It happens everywhere - while browsing the forum, using the administration page, etc. So it's not fixed to a certain page.
Thanks in advance!

In your navigation menu beta site has many links to your 3.4.7.
As speed your beta site works fairly quickly.

Maybe you should edit the navigation menu links.
Also good to clear the cache (System - Support ->Check "Something isn't working correctly." - Continue)
First step of the support that will clear your cache.

Then check how your working beta site.

Okay, I'll check the cache and also the links... though they shouldn't cause any issues, as they are still okay.

Yes, the page is fast - when it works. As mentioned, often it simply times out after 30 seconds - but when it doesn't, it's fast.

How many times have you detect such delay?

For the last two hours I have not received any. Always good speed site.

Some of your users have a delay of beta site?

If you're an active client (which it seems like you are), then you can request IPS Support to convert v3 to v4 and let them handle everything.

I don't think that is free. If it is please let me know and I can for sure use that service.

It happens to me almost every second time.

I now had to reload 7 times just to change some colors in the theme.

The logfile shows nothing unusual, that's the problem... I am the only one accessing the beta site right now.

Different PCs, browsers, even the users reported the same issue.

BUT: It's fixed now, and I guess I know what it is!

When I checked the dashboard, it was still working on reindexing the posts, etc. That took a few hours!
After that was finished, the boards are now running fast again.

Maybe a warning could be added, that the boards can be unresponsive while that happens.
