Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Izaya Orihara Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 While I am sure @daniel-son is awesome, I don't necessarily want notifications from him for everything he posts I am following Daniel, but where do I turn off the notifications for him and others I follow and the stuff they post? I don't want to turn off notifications for everything I follow, just turn them off for the content that people I am following post.
The Jimmo Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Why follow them if you don't want to be notified of what they're doing? Isn't that the only reason to follow an individual?
Adriano Faria Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Welcome, Micah: http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/405010-followers-notification-x-real-followed-content-notification/

TBH, I followed him because he followed me But I guess I use the same concept as version 3 where we're friends but that doesn't mean I want to be notified of every little thing you say and do I'd prefer the choice ofA. Yes, I want these notifications from this person B. I'd like to follow them but I don't need to be notified of everything they post. Welcome, Micah: http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/405010-followers-notification-x-real-followed-content-notification/ Ah thank you I see it is quite the heated debate!

It's kind of one of those things that we either have to accept what the new "following" means or is a "friendship" type thing still applicable. To me there is no reason to follow someone unless you're interested in what they're posting but I could just be mean like that

To me there is no reason to follow someone unless you're interested in what they're posting but I could just be mean like that I see it more as I may like what you say in general but do I need to see every reply you make? example you could he making good posts about ip board and chat two products I actually use. Yet I also have to get notifications for stuff that I don't use. Such as nexus or blog.

I like this a lot but that could get complicated fast giving users that many settings on just a "follow" Though I am with you, I do like that freedom. Just believe in KISS though

Just believe in KISS though As much as I hate to even mention it, I do like the way XF does do their notification system and the following system. It's unobtrusive and it still follows the whole KISS concept.
Adriano Faria Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Yes, let's go ahead and feed the software that hates frienendship in all it essense. If I have 500 friends and don't want to receive thousand notifications a day, it's simple: just remove your 500 friends and everybody is happy. You didn't choose to "follow" anynone. Did you?
