Posted April 23, 201311 yr I have a perpetual license and Invision is offering to convert it to a standard license for free. But what is the difference after. Do I pay more, do I get more services. I am not sure what to do. I use to love when we could call Invision and ask questions so they could clarify everything. Now we can't talk like normal people...everything is thru email. Sucks!
April 23, 201311 yr Standard Licence costs $25 every 6 months if you want access to upgrade downloads and support if that helps you any
April 23, 201311 yr The standard license also gives you benefits over what the perpetual has. Standard license gets you a free 5 user chat, IPS Spam service, visual skin editor. You don't have that with a Perpetual. You could always ask IPS support via your client area and they can detail the differences for you.

With the perpetual you don't have to pay ever again to get the latest version of the software. You do have to pay for support if you want it. With a regular one you lose access to upgrades once your time runs out so you have to keep renewing if you want to upgrade. You get other things like chat, spam service, etc., etc.. Not letting my perpetual go. :D And the people that have lifetime, that's the best because it is like the perpetual but it does come with support. However if you want the other perks you do have to convert to regular.
April 23, 201311 yr Summary: A perpetual license allows you to access the latest version of the software perpetually. You must pay $30 a year for support if you require technical support. You do not have access to any of the additional enhanced services that we offer. A standard license allows you to access the latest version of the software and access technical support for $25 every 6 months as a renewal cost. You can stop renewing at any time without penalty, and begin renewing at any time without penalty, if you wish to do so (example - your license expires today, you elect not to renew it. You can pay $25 in July to reactivate your license and gain access to technical support and updates without any penalty). You have access to the enhanced services that we offer. The services that we offer that are available with a standard license but not with a perpetual license include: Our proprietary in-house spam service A visual skin editing tool, which allows you to point and click on your forums and change the theme and colors of your forums visually without diving in to CSS files A free 5-user chat room, with higher-level plans available as needed. Further services may become available to users with a standard license down the road as well.

The support went up so its $40 per year, vs $25 every 6 months. Right now I also pay $15 per year for the Gallery and $15 per IP Content. Would I need to pay extra if I have the standard? I don't want to spend more money. That's why my questions. I control spam since they have to go thru administration to register. So I ask again what would be my advantage to change. More money? I have had my board since 2005 but it is not a very busy one.
April 24, 201311 yr If you have no need for the spam monitoring service or the free 5-user IP.Chat service or the visual skin editor, then you will not stand to gain much by converting your license at this time. Be aware that additional services may become available to the Standard license over time.
