CrossFire-Radio Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Okay so, if I do a ping on the server IP it pings just fine.. However, if I do a ping on the domain, it comes up with no info... At times im able to view the site without using the www. prefix, but I cant view it using the www. prefix And then there is other times, when I cant view it at all I do have the IP and the domain listed in my hosts file... which solved the issue for about 2 hours... then I wasnt able to view it anymore... I have done a full cache clear and a dns flush But im still having issues viewing the site.. I can view if I use the IP... but not using the actual domain. Would anyone know what would cause something like that? Could something be messed up through the registrar maybe? or would it have something to do with the NS or DNS setup? Any ideas, what I can do? or what might fix it up?
Aiwa Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I'd contact your host. It sounds like they may be having problems routing the domain to your IP.
CrossFire-Radio Posted May 1, 2012 Author Posted May 1, 2012 well after about 2 hours of searching the web, i think I resolved the issue... however I will have to wait a few more hours, and then recheck it again to see if it did resolve it... it seems that the issue was with in my ISP and their NS's of not resolving the IP correctly... So went in to my network connections and added in 2 DNS server IPs using Open DNS IP's... and then did another DNS Flush... and when I went to the Domain name using www. prefix and with out, it loaded right up with out hesitation. But im going to wait it out a few, and then try it again to see if still loads... If it does, then it is my ISP's fault.. O_o
Gary. Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 You should add it like this in your host.conf file: 192.168.2.1 www.domain.com 192.168.2.1 http.domain.com 192.168.2.1 domain.com Just incase the foums in the conf_global does not have the www ot http prefix, Either way it would find them all. Usually after the change I reboot / PC my router after flushing the DNS cache.

It is still working..
Luis Manson Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 use a web dns tool just to check your ISP dns and others ;)
