Skinning easier in 3.2? how?

Can someone explain to me how exactly the skinning is easier in 3.2?I did a quick brief look over the skinning and I've failed to see where it's easier? it seems the same to me as it was in 3.1 and 3.0? Am i missing something? :P

It's easier in terms of the CSS - we've overhauled it, so it's much more modular now, instead of styles being written for specific pages. Names are much more obvious, and it's more logically arranged.

There's also some nifty skinning system features, like being able to edit templates via WebDAV, instead of in the ACP :)

Even though WebDAV doesn't seem to work in Beta 1. :P

Then it needs some work with the CSS. I am trying to convert my skin from 3.1.4 and it is IMPOSSIBLE! I have the basics down but some large bugs that I can't seem to fix :( help?

I never used this WebDAV before, don't even know what it is. Is there a place where it is explained in better detail? Please keep in mind that since I'm no longer an 'active customer', yet still use an IPB board, I can't access many topics where only 'active customer' are allowed in. Thanks in advance.

*bump* anybody?

All I want to know is how this WebDAV will help us with our skins. I keep hearing how easier it will be to use WebDAV to edit our skins, but for those like myself who don't even know what WebDAV is, will that be the only way or can we still do it through the ACP?

I would much prefer to use Dreamweaver than WebDAV. I haven't tried it yet, but assume it will work as well.

You are aware that WebDAV is a protocol, and Dreamweaver is an application? Two totally different things.

You can use pretty much any text editor to change files through WebDAV (think of it as a type of FTP) - Dreamweaver IS one of those I believe that has access to WebDAV protocols.

I honestly don't mean to be rude, but none of those replies help. Can anyone please help me with my original question? Thanks again ahead of time.

WEBDAV (Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning) is basically a protocol/tool that runs on the server and provides versioning for files. That means you can check files in and out when you modify them in Dreamweaver just like what VersionCue by adobe provides but instead of running on your machine it runs on the host server. This means that you now can have several people working on the same files, move these files around etc

Having support for Webdav means that admins who run Webdav can now use it to do versioning with 3.2.
If you never heard of webdav you probably do not need it and should not worry about it but for seasoned admins having webdav support is nice

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question Christophe, very much appreciated.

Alright, before anyone jumps down my throat about reviving a dead thread... this is the thread that shows up in google when you search "WebDav IPB Dreamweaver"

I have to imagine that I'm not the only person that will find this thread in their search.
