Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
sychn Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Hello, I ran a test IPB in a LAN, the first page loaded very slow, but once the first page loaded, the further pages operation ran very fast as expected. Does anyone know how to tweak it to make the first page load faster? Thanks!
(e) Eric Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I'm not 100% sure, but at least in previous versions the system scheduler (tasks) executes only when the board is viewed. So if you go to a forum with no members and you haven't visited recently (so therefore no one has) all those tasks have built up. So when someone does finally visit the board, those tasks get executed. That and re-caching possibly. So on a normal board this would be a non-issue.
bfarber Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 What is your first page? If it's IP.Content it could be that the first page hit had to trigger the blocks to cache. If you have blocks like "recent posts" it can be a bit resource intensive to build the block the first time around, but that's precisely why you can cache blocks.
