Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted July 19, 201014 yr I was just thinking about the bonuses of the rep system and had an idea.. What if to + someones rep it -ed yours... so configure it so if you register you start off with 5 REP and to rep someone it takes away from your rep and if you hit 0 you can't rep anymore until someone reps you.
July 19, 201014 yr Author Well possibly... but I'd think it'd be more of an incentive to publish GOOD posts that will actually be useful.
July 20, 201014 yr Author Personally, I'd never rep a post if it take away my reputation points... Ouch shot down lol.
July 20, 201014 yr I don't like the idea at all. BUT, ... maybe ... if you - someones rep it -ed yours. That MAY keep people from just - people for the heck of it.
July 20, 201014 yr This is what you are talking about maybe? more complete? http://community.invisionpower.com/index.php?app=forums&module=forums§ion=findpost&pid=1957289 unfortunately, not happening at IPB

Does that mean if you -rep someone, you get a +rep? :D
July 21, 201014 yr Something like this would lead to 'I + rep you, you + rep me' faster than the system already in place, I think. Personally, I'd never rep a post if it take away my reputation points... Since you like your rep points so much, I + repped you :D (+ rep me back!) :P ----- I think this could, in a perfect world (or within the boundaries of a perfect community), be an improvement. Having said that I don't think it'll be an improvement as 'giving money away' is a lot harder than 'giving monopoly money away' (and people would just stop repping other people in the hope that they get rep without having to give it away...).
