Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Painted Horse Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 I understand AdSense is one of the more common ad programs out there that many people here are using for a trickle of revenue. Could anyone here, who is using AdSense, possible share what their traffic levels and adsense revenue numbers are (a PM is fine if you don't want it public - discretion assured)? We are looking at such an endeavour ourselves and were curious what the realistic numbers were. Anyone?
Connor T Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 It was a main way of income for me and generated quite a lot, until the USA economy took a tumble. Ever since then its gone a lot for me. Barely generating enough for server costs.
Mat Barrie Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 FYI, Google's paying you 68% of what they charged the advertiser ;)
Axel Wers Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Yuck, Adsense maybe was good, but nowadays is totally useless. 10 clicks 5 cents... In near future I kick out whole Adsense, I'm not a charity.
b0x Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 I just removed Adsense from my site for just that reason.
Painted Horse Posted May 25, 2010 Author Posted May 25, 2010 I just removed Adsense from my site for just that reason. Did you replace it with anything? OpenX?
Painted Horse Posted May 25, 2010 Author Posted May 25, 2010 Yuck, Adsense maybe was good, but nowadays is totally useless. 10 clicks 5 cents... Ouch, that's brutal!
AlexJ Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 I just removed Adsense from my site for just that reason. Same. In 7 days I get only avg 1$ with 12K page impressions..
Axel Wers Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 In my country is lot of very similar discussions about Adsense in this way.
rbiss Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 FYI, Google's paying you 68% of what they charged the advertiser ;) Having said that, it's still a pretty good program. I try to provide balance between direct advertising and google. Direct ads are much more variable in my world.
b0x Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Did you replace it with anything? OpenX? The last few months I've been partnering with a company that delivers a service that interests my forum visitors.
Robulosity2 Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 I had it, removed it... I customized ad content and it kept showing things that were not appropriate for the audience (e.g lavalife..) of my site.. I got way to many complaints
