Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted April 10, 200717 yr First this is ACTUALLY a suggestion and not support (if you think it is support) but would it be at all possible for the board to detect on the SERVER weather ALL the files are present on the server. IF not a little message (javascript?) will pop-up with message of like "We are sorry to inform you but it appears as if your missing some files in (these|this) folder. Please make sure they are uploaded onto the server" & it'd list the files & the folders they are found in. Could that be added to the installer & to the help & support tab? Just a extra page that again just checks weather the files needed to the run board features (AJAX topic-editing, creating forums, etc) are present. Why am I suggesting this? For some old reason (that I don't know answer to) various boards i've set up ~the time my licenese expeired to right now seem to be missing some 'key' files which prevent me topic-title editing (AJAX), creating forums, modifying skins, etc.
April 10, 200717 yr If they are missing "key" files, you have got bigger issues. I don't see the purpose of this since most people either keep back ups or don't fool around with files (and even then, they have the distribution backed up).
April 10, 200717 yr only time i've ever seen a server with missing files is by people using piracy versions of ipb, most the time its pretty simple just unrar the package from your client center and upload. However php will throw you errors itself if files are missing.
April 10, 200717 yr And why are you setting up 'various boards' when you don't have an active license anymore? Your one license gives you permission to set up one board.
April 10, 200717 yr To do this we'd have to manually maintain a list of files, which I have no desire to do.
