Yes it shouldn't be that way by default. All users should have to approve friendships manually unless they switch it off in their settings. Not the other way round in my opinion.
  4. Thanks for the info Adriano.
  5. It would be great if in their settings member could opt-out of receiving search results for some forums. For example we have a games forum which some members love to participate in, but others don't want to see when viewing new posts or searching for topics. It would be good if, if they wish they can select forum games to not be added to when searching. Or any other forum they have no interest in.

It's already there but by default and for ease of use it needs to be displayed on the View New Content page as a optional link. Or perhaps a separate link in the header navigation (which can be toggled on/off in admin).

I'd like to suggest that when you click 'view new content' and get the message "Sorry, no new content found" there is a link which says... "To view posts that have been made over the last 24 hours click here." Sometimes when checking view new content, and then I have to dash off somewhere else, I'm finding that the new content then disappears making the site look barren and then have to search for the post that was previously there.
  8. Thanks for the clarification, so 3.0.1 would be classed as a point release - 3.1.0 wouldn't. Have I got that right? Besides that, if these things are being noted as possibles for future releases it sounds fantastic.
  9. Invasive change? Do that mean it'd require quite a lot of rewriting?
  10. I'm currently testing out IPB3 with a few people and one thing I really wanted to do was comment/reply on a member status but couldn't. This is hugely popular on Facebook, so I suspect that's why I just instinctively looked for somewhere to be able to do it. Also perhaps status messages (and their comments/replies) could be archived (when updated) in the users profile comments. Perhaps archived status's could have a prefix "Status update:" and be highlighted by a different colour (like blog authors who post a comment on their own blog entry). I don't know how difficult this would be to implement but I sure would like to see it :)

Oh no, I need a recent posts side column block as I used to use it as part of VBA (Vbulletin 3rd party cms) and my users loved it. Any chance we could have it as a separate download so those of us who are able to use it can?

One thing I've noticed is that members aren't given options for profile privacy settings. Not many anyway. For example they should be able to choose whether guests, members or just friends can view their profile. Or am I missing some options in AdminCP?

Charles, why are your blogs not appearing on your forum tab?

Interesting, would be cool if it could come back :)

Are there any plans to add an 'activity feed' where you can see what people from your friends list have been up to on the site - showing a summary of threads, posts, blogs, images, comments and anything else that they've posted or been involved in. For example: Friend 1 commented on Member 2's picture: Me in Spain Friend 3 posted a new thread: Eminem Fans! Friend 5 posted a new blog: My boring life Friend 8 replied to thread: I like fraggles Friend 10 scored XXXXX playing Space Invaders in arcade (If IBPro is installed) On some community sites people tend to get involved in the things that friends are discussing or playing I find.
  17. Are there any plans to include a Facebook style instant messenger/chat with the IPB suite? Social Engine has one of these and it works really well - it comes with the official chat plug-in.
