So, I think I've buggered something up in an effort to clean up some sections of the AdminCP and I have no idea how to rectify it (or I'm blind and haven't noticed the setting). 😅

I initially created a new language to use the Australian locale, not noticing this could be edited in the default language. After setting the default language to use the Australian locale, making it the default language used on my community and deleting the other language I created, there are numerous areas of my community displaying word keys instead of the words or phrases that are meant to be there.

A side note that no translations were made, I just created the new language to use the Australian locale as opposed to the US one.

It has replaced:

  • Some categories and forums (which I have edited back to its former self)

  • Some items in my menus (which I have edited back to its former self)

  • Profile fields

  • Ranks and badge titles

  • Guidelines

  • Privacy Policy

You get the gist. I have attempted to Clear System Caches and wait about an hour or two in case there were tasks required to run before things would go back to normal without resolve. I have tested on another browser to no avail. I have also tried enabling and disabling 'View word keys' in the AdminCP, but that did nothing either. Take a look at my community and you should notice them.

What am I missing? 🤔

I forgot to mention, here is what has come up 19 times in the System Logs.

The URL of page the error occurred on was https://www.japanesespitz.au/?csrfKey=0921ed2d4838c0ed95dfdd49ea6fce0a&app=core&module=system&controller=editor&do=emoji

We would need to look further into this for you, however the access details on file appear to be incorrect or missing. Could you please update these details by visiting your client area, selecting the relevant purchase, then clicking "Review/Update Access Information" under the "Stored Access Information" section.

We look forward to further assisting you.

Hi @Marc, sorry for the delay. I have updated these details for your reference. Please let me know if I have missed something.
The Return Key behaviour seems to have changed on Invision Community. Pressing enter goes to the next line instead of starting a new paragraph. 🤓

Im not actually seeing any word keys on your main page as you mention. Please could you point a specific instance out? Simply as I may well just be missing it

Go to my profile, Gary. You’ll see them all there.

Happens on my phone and a desktop for the record.

The issue there will be you have deleted the only language pack that you had lang translations set on, and so there is no longer anything to show. In that situation, you would need to add names within your admin CP to those custom profile fields

Example here

It has also impacted ranks and badge titles, Guidelines and the Privacy Policy.

No language translations were made, I just created a new language pack (let’s called it language pack 2) and changed the default to that newly created language pack before realising I could change the locale of the original language pack.

Original language pack was selected and language pack 2 was deleted. That’s when I noticed the issue. I may have to just revert to a backup. An upgrade wouldn’t fix this I assume?

All language items are translations, essentially. So you added everything on the main lang pack. You created a new language pack (but hadnt gone in and added for the new one. As an example, when you set up the second one, you would have had this

Now that shouldn't have happened (am I'm not able to recreate the issue unfortunately), so something of course has gone wrong there when the new language pack was created. It should have copied what was present in the other language pack. But as it happened, when you deleted the first, you have deleted your language strings.

Thanks for having a look through this, @Marc. I've reverted to a backup to diagnose the issue.

Here are the steps to recreate what I have been experiencing. Noting I have two languages, one called 'Default ACP English' which is the default that I never touched since installing v5, and another called 'English (Australia)'.

  1. Make Default ACP English the default language and save. Everything is okay so far.

  2. Dropdown box under Default ACP English and click 'Set As Members' Language' (tick all groups) and save. Still working okay.

  3. Disable English (Australia), change members to 'Default ACP English' and save.

You will now notice various parts of the community are displaying with word keys, replacing words and phrases. I don't think I have edited the English (Australia) language apart from setting the locale. There are no differences between them when comparing them on the page after clicking the globe icon (Translate).

Enabling English (Australia) and setting it as a default language again doesn't fix the problem, until you 'Set As Members' Language' (tick all groups again) and save.

Long story short, I just want to make use of a default language pack, set it as the default using the Australian locale and remove any other language packs. 🤔

For the record, I have filtered both languages with 'Translated' and have found there are only two differences.

  1. menu_item_1 - Default text is Browse and it has been translated to More (I vageuley recall making this change).

  2. menu_item_2 - Default text is Activity and it has been translated to Activity (I do not recall making this change).

Safe to say, if both of these "translations" are removed, and I follow the steps mentioned in my previous post, I still get errors showing throughout the community. Here's the homepage for instance.
