Posted Thursday at 06:00 PM3 days Good day folks, thanks in advance for any suggestions.I have some areas where I've linked images internally into articles, and my own profile, and they are not displaying. I've gone into the servers folder structure and I can see the images, so they are still there. Here is a screen shot of my profile. Here are a couple links of articles missing images I hot linked from our gallery.https://thepatriotwoodworker.com/wood/52_the_american_woods/54_the-hardwoods-broadleafs/black-walnut-r15/https://thepatriotwoodworker.com/wood/52_the_american_woods/54_the-hardwoods-broadleafs/butternut-r13/Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thursday at 06:09 PM3 days Community Expert The images are no longer present in those locations on your server. They are returning a 404 not found. You will not want to hotlink images from other areas of the site as this can lead to 404 not founds if the images are rebuilt. You will want to use the "Insert existing attachment" option in the editor for these cases or directly upload the image in the content which you're using it in.

Hmmm
Thursday at 06:13 PM3 days Community Expert This is for example one that is not:https://thepatriotwoodworker.com/uploads/monthly_2024_12/large.JuglansNigra(Linnaeus).JPG.d1548c2724c4bab56c48718c7549417f.JPG As you can see it is a different ending string there then the one you listed.
Thursday at 06:23 PM3 days Author I guess I got some figuring out to then! I'm confused, ok thanks Jim! Maybe I deleted them the same day and reuploaded after I hotlinked them in those articles.
Thursday at 06:43 PM3 days Community Expert Worth noting that even the link you posted is different than what you have highlighted there. If you have rebuilt your Gallery images multiple times since these, this could explain it.
Thursday at 06:48 PM3 days Author well I did reset the size of images to smaller a couple weeks ago, and rebuilt the system. I thought I could rebuild without any adverse effects? Just the display sizes would of been modified? Edited Thursday at 06:48 PM3 days by JohnCourt
Thursday at 06:50 PM3 days Community Expert Solution well I did reset the size of images to smaller a couple weeks ago, and rebuilt the system. I thought I could rebuild without any adverse effects? Just the display sizes would of been modified? When you rebuild it will change the ending of the image files. Which isn't a problem except when you are copy/pasting the image URL places. Then it will break. If you use the internal system to attach existing attachments, it will be updated.
Thursday at 06:51 PM3 days Author If you use the internal system to attach existing attachments, it will be updated. Thanks Jim, from here on out, that is what we'll do!
Thursday at 06:58 PM3 days Author Now, is there a way to prevent members from copying pasting community image links to topics and elsewhere in our community?
Thursday at 07:11 PM3 days Community Expert Now, is there a way to prevent members from copying pasting community image links to topics and elsewhere in our community?I'm afraid, there is not through the default software at this time.
Thursday at 07:15 PM3 days Author Hey Jim, there is already a setting for disallowing the linking of external images, hot linking from outside.I wonder if in the future we could add a toggle to prohibit hot linking images internally? Perhaps by member group. Or just disallow period.
