Hi

I seem to be struggling to get a PWA splash for iOS to load. I have put in an image that is 256x256 (no idea what I am supposed to use) but I dont seem to see any mention of it in the HTML or manifest etc in either our style or default.

I am not sure what I am supposed to use for as an image if anyone could provide any pointers.

Also I am noticing some pretty hard caching going on with iOS. I pinned on my phone and later we added a link to our footer, the link shows in simulator but never in my pinned app. I have not removed/readded to see if it fixes itself but it has been several days now.

Is there a trick to getting iOS to update without asking people to repin? (which would be a nightmare given I cant detect them having the problem right now)

This also seems to be affecting test ads I have as well. They show for me in simulator but not in the pinned app on my phone.

Any pointers would be welcome.

Thanks

Interestingly I dont get a splash on here either, it was previously pinned a long time ago.

Just a quick google, it seems splash screens are an issue at present in iOS. I would ensure you are on the latest safari instance in case that resolves it, but we have seen issues in safari of late unfortunately. In that its quite simply been buggy at times.

In terms of cache on the device, there isnt much I can do to assist you on that side of things unfortunately, as its a device issue rather than a software one

iOS doesn't use a splash screen presently.

As far as reasons why things dont show, that would certainly be a good one

Ahh so even though I have the image that might explain why there doesnt appear to be anything added to the <head> area or manifest referencing it here or on my site.

I was just more wondering about what it considered normal for iOS PWA. I didnt expect ads not to show on prior pinned PWA's due to what seems like caching. The phone is on defaults so I fear this will affect a lot of users.

I have been trying to read up about PWA's and I was just wondering if its something that only effects us or if its a known issue, also if there are any workarounds.

Thanks for the replies
