Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted March 25Mar 25 Maybe it is a complete coincidence, but since upgrading to 5, there has been a 68% drop in AdSense revenue. While the community has been somewhat quieter, it has never been that low and I wonder if it may be something affecting things since upgrading to 5.All ads load, all same ad positions are set as 4, page loading times are fine, so I really don't know.
March 25Mar 25 Community Expert Mine personally has remained about the same as it was previously. I know hat doesnt help you much of course
March 25Mar 25 Author @LemonGrenade have you made any changes to the page layout? No, it's the same, even kept the classic layout. I was thinking it may have been down to the JavaScript thing mentioned in another topic, so not sure if it's connected somehow. The ad load may possibly be a little longer time that they appear within topic posts, which obviously could affect it.I have seen a drop since upgrading and didn't want to rush in and make a topic, in case it was just purely lower traffic (which it doesn't appear to be) and neither did I want people running AdSense to not upgrade on the strength of that. It was more to see if anyone else found the same issue, so the guys could maybe locate a fix, if indeed it is somehow connected to the newer platform.
April 8Apr 8 @LemonGrenade what is the situation with advertising? Has it improved or is it still bad?
April 8Apr 8 Author @LemonGrenade what is the situation with advertising? Has it improved or is it still bad?Hi Derek, I was having problems with ads not filling the spaces set, which I thought might've been the issue, as all the other areas were fine. It seemed to be more focused on ads within topics after x posts. While a lot of the time, these ads are now showing, I am still seeing around a 50% reduction. I am trying to determine whether they are not loading quickly enough or merely lower traffic/less revenue moving into Q2, and nothing connected to upgrading.I have also noticed the quality of ads can be poor, which again, could be adding to it.
April 19Apr 19 Author I've noticed a much better increase since 5.0.6 (and the later betas of that version), so it seems the issue could be now fixed from 5.0.6.Whether it was page loading time or some JavaScript issues, it seems much better now, and even better quality ads are filling.
