I have a Teaser field on my articles database that has a character limit set to 155. The field type is "Editor".

For some reason, that character limit is not being respected by the software (It not being respected by my authors is not something we can program around).

It's probably been like this for a while, but an author recently putting a full paragraph in there got the issue back on my radar again.

If you are on 4.7.2 you would need to upgrade before anything else and test this again, as you are running a release that went out in 2022. There have of course been many many updates since then

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention! I can confirm this should be further reviewed and I have logged an internal bug report for our development team to investigate and address as necessary, in a future maintenance release.
