Hello,

I am struggling a bit with the courses and how to link paid courses with user groups.

USER GROUPS AND COURSES

Is it possible to assign a user group once a course has been purchased?

PRODUCTS AND COURSES

Is it possible to include the access to a course once a product has been purchased? I've got products that give access to certain forums. Is it possible to give access to a course once the product is purchased?

I had created my courses with a pages application which works really well. So when someone purcshed a product, I would grant the user privileges with certain seconrary groups.

This is the thing now:

  1. I've created the courses using the new Courses applicaiton

  2. How can I do the same thing? That is, once a product is purchased, the user will have certain benefits. 1) Secondary group will grant access to certain forms 2) Access to the course I want

  3. The community is all about forums, channels and user groups that have access to channel X, Y, Z. However, it seems that this logic has been left out for courses. I just can't see how I can do the same thing I do with forums and pages.

I just can't see how to do this right now. It seems that the Course application is "disconnected" from everything, that it's a standalone module that does not obey to the primary/secondary gorups logic that works so well.

I don't see how I can add purchase benefits in the product's setting and grant the user access to one or various courses.

I am lost. I've looked everywhere and I can't see how to make this simple logic work. I have it running using a pages applicaiton. I moved to the cloud plan because of the courses and now it seems that I cannot assign it to a product. Can you help?

Thanks

Is this perhaps what you are missing in what you are trying to get set up?

Ok. I missed that one.

But here is the thing. I have the courses in my pages application and:

  1. The courses are associated to some products.

  2. The courses can be purchased as standalone products too.

I do not have to do anything. I mean, the user sses the course and he can purchase any course (pages module).

In my current setup, it's the product that associates the pages course by assigning a user group. By doing so, the course is completely independent and it can be assiciated to a product or purchases as a separate thing.

What I understand from the screenshot you sent me is that once I associate the course to a procuct, the course cannot be purchased because it's associated with that product. Did I understand correclty?

If that is so, it breaks my current logic and setup completely. Because on my communcity the user can decide to buy a course with or without support channels (help, questions, etc).

  1. Users can purchase a product which grants him access to the COURSE + SUPPORT channels

  2. Users can purchas ethe course as astandlone product without any support, just the couse.

If the visits the new Course module Invision created, he will see a list of courses without the prices. And, as I understand, if the course is associated to a product, the user will not be able to purchase the course.

Sorry for the long explanation but I am trying to understand the logic. It seems that the "ASSOCIATE WITH PRODUCT" breaks my logic and prevents me from using the course app.

Thanks

Yes, the problem here is that you are wanting to sell the course in 2 different manners. The system wont allow for that method of selling. It would be one or the other. If you are selling the course on its own, and also selling course + support, then really you would have to create 2 products and allow both of them association with the course

I think I understand you, Marc.

I can associate the course with several products, so each product with have its own specifics and I would be able to achieve what I can do now with the pages I have? Am I right? Thanks
