Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted February 24Feb 24 Hello,I'm using Invision 5.0.2 and recently upgraded my forum from the beta version. I've noticed an issue when adding widgets to my page: the header sometimes randomly displays as if I'm logged out on certain pages, and as if I'm logged in on others, even though I am actually logged in. I have already cleared my cache, but the problem persists.Thank you in advance for your help!
February 25Feb 25 The most common cause of that is server side caching. Are you running anything like cloudflare or any other caching service server side?
February 25Feb 25 Author Hello Marc,No, I don't have any caching enabled on the hosting side, and I'm not using Cloudflare at the moment. The menu only bugs like this when I place widgets on the page (e.g., the forum homepage). If I don't add any widgets, I don't experience any issues.Thank you
February 25Feb 25 I would recommend contacting your hosting provider to re-evaluate. As either there is server caching or there is session caching. Both of which are bad for dynamic websites, such as Invision Community.
February 28Feb 28 Author The host confirms that caching is not enabled. However, I noticed that when the menu displayed is mistakenly the one for a logged-out user, simply refreshing the page makes the correct menu appear.
February 28Feb 28 If you haven't already, please ensure that your software is on 5.0.3. We can take a look and see if we see anything which may be related on the software side. Please ensure that if you do have browser caching setup via .htaccess or passed elsewhere through request headers that it is disabled as well. Then please add your details so we can access:We would need to look further into this for you, however the access details on file appear to be incorrect or missing. Could you please update these details by visiting your client area, selecting the relevant purchase, then clicking "Review/Update Access Information" under the "Stored Access Information" section. We look forward to further assisting you.
March 14Mar 14 Author Hello,I have updated my infos with credential. Problem is still here. Thank you in advance for help
Saturday at 01:09 PM5 days Thanks for providing the access details. When taking a look at this and randomly dropping blocks on a page then saving and then navigating around, I am not getting logged out. Is there a particular sequence of events or particular blocks that you're adding/editing which are encountering this?
Saturday at 09:13 PM5 days Author On the homepage of https://forumdomotique.com, while logged out, if I log in using the top-right menu option "Existing user? Login", my session appears active. However, if I then navigate to "Nouvelles" or "Guides & Tutoriels" from the menu, the top-right menu still shows me as logged out. When I click back on "Forums", I appear logged in again. Additionally, if I refresh the "Nouvelles" or "Guides & Tutoriels" page (F5), the page reloads, and I then appear correctly logged in with the appropriate menu.Thank you for help.
Monday at 01:06 PM3 days Ive just cleared cache in the admin CP and that appears to have corrected the issue
Monday at 09:06 PM3 days Author Hello Marc,It indeed seemed to have resolved the issue. However, I later followed the same procedure myself, clearing the cache. But after, logging out and logging back in, I noticed that the problem persists.Thank you.
Tuesday at 03:59 PM2 days Author Hello,For me, all caches are either disabled or stopped:Litespeed Cache is disabledXtream Cache Varnish is disabledRedis is stoppedMemcache is not installed
Tuesday at 04:13 PM2 days Author I found other cache-related settings in the PHP configuration. Could it be coming from there?
Tuesday at 04:20 PM2 days Would depend on how your server is setup to utilize them. Typically, the answer would be now but you would need to contact your hosting provider/server administrator to find that out.
Tuesday at 05:05 PM2 days Typically, the answer would be no but you would need to contact your hosting provider/server administrator to find that out.Sorry about that, corrected it for you.
Wednesday at 10:14 AM1 day Author My hosting provider replied to me, and according to them, all caching systems are properly disabled.Translated to english : Hello,I was able to reproduce the error when logging into the site. While browsing normally, everything works fine, but as soon as I return to the homepage, it appears as if I am logged out.I have disabled all caching systems on our end; however, the issue still seems to persist. On my side, if I log into the site, navigate through it, and then return to the homepage, I am logged out again. However, if I refresh the page while logged out, I am reconnected and can then browse the forum and return to the homepage without being logged out.I am not sure if this is a caching issue, especially since all available caching systems are currently disabled on our end.Best regards,EymericI am lost on this topic and don't know what to do to move forward.
