Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted February 9Feb 9 Question about how Topic Summaries work.I have the setting switched on in V5, and a plan that includes it, however I don't see topic summaries anywhere.Even on topics with hundreds of replies, I can't see any summary produced on any pages. Is there another setting I'm missing, or something I have to do to create/enable them on-page?TIA

February 10Feb 10 Community Expert Hi @James Hargreaves,You can find this setting in your AdminCP → Community → Forums → Settings → scroll down to Topic Overview Settings. You can adjust the settings to suit your community, but if you would like the summaries to show all the time, just tick the 'Always show' box under Criteria.Edit: You beat me to it @dmaidon1! 😁 Edited February 10Feb 10 by Gary
February 10Feb 10 Author In the ACP under 'Community | Forums | Settings' at the bottom of the page. I do have 'Topic Overview' on, but I was wondering about Topic Summaries in Community > Topic Summary (/admin/?app=cloud&module=smartcommunity&controller=smartcommunity&do=topicsummary)
February 10Feb 10 I think we may be talking about different things - or I'm getting mixed up!Can you post an image of what you're wanting? That would help to make sure we're on the same page.

February 10Feb 10 This is what I am looking at:That's the area that @Gary and I were showing you. Can you also post an image of your "Topic Overview Settings" so we can see how you have it configured? Edited February 10Feb 10 by dmaidon1
February 10Feb 10 Author That's the area that @Gary and I were showing you. Can you also post an image of your "Topic Overview Settings" so we can see how you have it configured?I'm not sure it is, is it?There is 'Topic Overview', which has been available since Invision 4. 'Topic Summary' is highlighted as a new 'AI' feature in V5?They have two different settings pages (Topic Overview is in Community > Forums > Settings, whilst Topic Summary is in Community > [AI] Topic Summary). As I understood it, the Topic Summary is a feature only available on Cloud (Creator Pro upwards), whereas Topic Overview is part of the core package for all? Summaries use an algorithm to highlight useful posts, whereas Overview is a simple collection of information about the topic?Admittedly, they are similar sounding names (and features!), so perhaps that is leading to the confusion?

They are two separate features of Invision Community. The blog post you linked to describes Topic Summaries, available to Cloud clients only. Topic Overview is available on both products.
