In the theme editor --> header --> desktop header --> Click and drag to reorder header elements.

Is it possible to add new elements ?

What is it you are looking to be added?

Thanks Marc, initially an advertising banner.

Ah. No there would be no way in which to add that to the header in that way. You would add advertisements through the ads system in the admin CP. Alternatively you could hook into templates if you wanted to do so
