Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
ZakRhyno Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Mods are gone before we upload and install them. Now that the marketplace and the whole way we did it were changed to click install and not upload install anymore, is IPB v5 going back to the old way of uploading mods, and is it like before the marketplace installed them?
Luuuk Posted November 3 Posted November 3 (edited) Hi, 1. Invision Marketplace is ditched for good so yes. Also, Plugins are deprecated in 5.x: 2. There is a community attempt to provide a basic listing similar to the old Marketplace: Invisioneer Marketplace Directory Some developers already introduced "Compatibility with 5.0 Beta". This was a decision made from reality a naming perspective than our decision from removing the Marketplace. All applications contain the capability of plugins so really having plugins is relatively pointless. ZakRhyno Posted November 3 Author Posted November 3 Could you expand on this, "This was a decision made from reality a naming perspective than our decision from removing the Marketplace." I don't get what your saying here.

[My comment: and I did not relate them, I just provided two separated infos for the OP] - All developers previously providing/distributing plugins for IPS 4.x must to convert the plugins to applications to make them work with IPS 5.x. Are you speaking of the exchange between plugins and applications? 10 minutes ago, Luuuk said: I believe the text refers either to: - Marketplace removal and Plugins deprecation are not related to each other. Thank you for your reply but I was speaking more to what @Jim M was saying.
Solution Jim M Posted November 3 Solution Posted November 3 3 minutes ago, ZakRhyno said: Are you speaking of the exchange between plugins and applications? Yes, applications basically do the same as plugins and then some so getting rid of plugins is really just “naming”. Wouldn’t really worry about this unless you’re actively developing as it won’t impact you 😉
