Ocean West Posted May 30 Posted May 30 I need to setup a download in my marketplace but I don't want it available until next week but we need a link to it for third party blogs and emails. I could create it today and then hide the file and the post to the forum. Is there an easy way to change the posting date of this next week when I need it to go live, and un hide it and have it appear that it was posted on that date? Could I create a friendly URL to a placeholder file and then post the file day of release then update the friendly url to redirect to the download? (would have to maintain that in perpetuity) not ideal.
Jim M Posted May 30 Posted May 30 If you create it today, it would have the created date of today in the Download. The Future Publish feature of the topic will take care of the topic but there isn't anything similar in Downloads.

A Content Management System that runs a community needs to be able to schedule that content no matter what type of content it is. I can see use cases for Downloads like you've shown. I need it for Gallery albums. I can see a use case for Events. I'm really hoping it comes in IPS5. Edited May 31 by CheersnGears
IPCommerceFan Posted May 31 Posted May 31 The concept of "Publish Later" can have many applications for sure. The Support module in Commerce is deprecated now, but if it weren't, I'd say it would also benefit from being able to post a support reply at a later date/time. Lets say you're burning the midnight oil and don't want to send customers notifications at 3--4am. It would be nice to be able to schedule a reply to post at 8am instead. Maybe once V5 is out, a 3rd party developer can come up with a task scheduler that can hook into all of IPS's official apps and add the feature universally, with admin-side toggles for each application and permissions for which groups can use the feature. It wouldn't hurt to bring it up in the developer forum. 👍
