Hi, how would I go about adding this profile chat feature to my forum? 

Also is there an option to have a live chat box on the forum for everyone to chat in?

You will want to enable Status Updates which encompasses the public message feature on another user's profile.

Just an fyi… this feature is slated to be removed in IPB 5 whenever it comes out.

As a result, you should consider if you want to offer something that will later be removed or force you to use some sort of third party modification to continue offering.

If you search for "Status Update" in the ACP you should find it.
