Is there a way to disable all activity (posts, comments, uploads, everything...) but still allow anyone to view the community? I think I can edit permissions for Groups to do this, but I was hoping for a simpler solution. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or are Permissions the only way? Thanks!

If you do it from the group permissions, it's MUCH easier to do. 

ACP > Members > Members > Groups 

Find the group and click the Permissions icon (it looks like a lock)
