Sadly, the Global Header Message App is not compatible with 4.5 -- does anyone know if this feature is now built in, or if there is a built-in alternative?

The plugin is defunct now that there is built-in functionality to create announcements, which you can access from the Create menu and the Moderator Control Panel:

 

 

I've found with the announcements message, you are limited to the amount of text you can put in there and links do not show as 'linked'. 

Would be nice if global header message was updated @Pete :)
