Drewfus Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Hello I am trying to make a database using a topic feed and am not quite sure how, can any one help me on creating a database I tried its there but nothing in the database so I guess I am missing something. Thanks!
bfarber Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 When you create a "database" within Pages, it is designed to store data that you (or your users) submit. It will not auto-populate with other data on your site. What is your end goal, because there's a few ways you could go about this? For instance, you could create a custom activity stream that shows (specific or all) topics, or you could use RSS imports to pull topics into your newly created database.
Drewfus Posted October 2, 2020 Author Posted October 2, 2020 I was hoping to use what data was already posted into the topics field so you are saying that only new posts will show and not what has already been posted? I am trying to put one specific forum into the database like General Discussion.
Drewfus Posted October 4, 2020 Author Posted October 4, 2020 this is what I get when trying to add a database not really sure how to do it ( These settings will have no affect until this database is added to a page. )
bfarber Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 Topics and Pages databases are two different things. It would be akin to installing our Blog software and expecting topics to show up in the blogs - that's just not what the software does exactly. As I said, you can move topics to databases, you can use RSS imports to pull topics into database and so forth, but they won't just automatically show up in the Pages database.
Drewfus Posted October 8, 2020 Author Posted October 8, 2020 So how would I move topics into a database this is my whole problem not sure how to ad a database. do I need to create a html page ?
