Correct way to embed a youtube / vimeo video

Hi I did search for this, got lots of posts about video but nothing directly related to a how to. 

Any help greatly appreciated

Get the URL of the video. Paste it in. Done.

Yeh, this used to work fine, but now the link appears in the post instead of the video. Even if I switch to default theme...?

Still works ...

Yeh works here, doesn't work on my site. Support are looking at it now.
