Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
goldmorphin Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Hello! Any ideas how i can check exist member or not? I can get member by ID, but if i want do it from another resource i have only name. /core/members generated a lot of pages (~20 000). Maybe you can add in REST API function to get member by name?
bfarber Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 This is something we are considering already internally. The ability to 'search' members through the API by name, email, group, etc.
goldmorphin Posted August 13, 2017 Author Posted August 13, 2017 Bump! More than a month. Any news? Is it really that hard?

Certainly not, they probably discuss it because of other reasons. I also needed such a endpoint but I was in the sweet spot that I could also simply query my database instead of going through the REST Api
bfarber Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 I'm afraid that simply because something isn't too difficult does not mean we can implement everything suggested or requested near immediately. This is something we have discussed and I expect we will see some changes in this area in the near future. Unfortunately I can't really say much more beyond that at this time.

Without making any promises, I do expect that we'll see some changes in this area in an upcoming major release, yes. We have a high interest in making good realistic improvements to the REST API throughout each version release.
