The top contributor block is set to week as default. Can I set it to month?

Not possible?

Create a new block based on that block. On the 'Content' tab, change the 'Use this template as-is' to 'Use as a base for a custom template'.

In the resulting template content, find ipsTabs_activeItem (which is in the 'Week' tab's class) and remove it. Then add ipsTabs_activeItem to the tab you prefer to use as the default (so the tab's class becomes 'ipsTabs_item ipsTabs_activeItem' and then proceed from there (feel free to 'refresh preview' to see the result) .... save the block, put that one in place instead of the existing block.
