Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Sminkeforum Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Hi We're going to start having an annual subscription member fee (lets say 15), but we want a free trial period of 3 months. All members need a subscription, and if a member doesn't pay, it's supposed to get the same access as a guest. I have two user groups, regular member and a VIP-member, but the VIP-group can be converted to regular member if it complicates things. How do I set this up in commerce? I need a newbie explanation.
Day_ Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Are member subscriptions back? I opened a demo to try before I bought but couldn't find member subscriptions anywhere

Sminkeforum Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 Aren't there anyone who knows if this can be done?
americanwx Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 I was really hopeful to see this ability added to Commerce after upgrading from Nexus but, alas, no trial period setting for subscriptions packages. Big bummer there.

I need a newbie explanation. . 1. create a product in store 2. product price 0 (zero) -> this is your free trial first 3 months 3. activate renewals 4.fill in your renewal options .. price .. every 3 months .. NOT select "Add to purchase price" --> this will start billing after first 3 months and yes, every 3 months, not 1 year .. but I guess if you do automated subscriptions per 3 months is not bad .. (see EDIT) 5. go to "Store & Purchase settings" tab 6. find "Move customer into group" 7. DESELECT "Do not change" --> will display a lot more options now 8. "move customer into group" .. choose "VIP-member" --> this is your group you've made, so it will be in the list 9. "Return to previous group when purchase expires or is canceled?" .. switch ON 10. Save and test Probably for testing use some few days in between and not months .. Check your invoice settings, they can trigger automatic payments & send out invoices too quickly if you still have it on default settings .. That will do it for now .. EDIT: you can add 2 products: 1 product that gives a 3 month trial and you set "Allow users to purchase more than one?" OFF .. so only 1 trial per user .. 2nd product is your full 1 year subscription .. .
