Feedback on IP.Gallery: The Small Stuff

Here's a miscellaneous list of small stuff that can be fixed or improved in IP.Gallery:

1.  "Select Rows"

- Instead of "All," you should say "Page."  Because you're really not selecting all photos in the category or albums, only the ones that appear on that page.

- You should add an option for "All," which truly does select all images in the album or category, even if many pages.

- Also, I don't know why you call it "Select Rows."  The user doesn't have options to choose the first row, or every other row, or the bottom 2 rows.  Why not call it "Select Images" or even simpler "Select"?

2.  Moderation -- When a user uploads an album for moderation, the admin or moderator sees a greyed-out album.  See screenshot.  It would be nice if there was the "pending approval" icon, because otherwise the album looks empty.

Admin_view_of_moderated_album.thumb.PNG.

(There are actually 13 photos in there!)

3.  Mixed navigation -- In the category view: when you click on the album thumbnail, you go to the album.  When you click on an image, you go to the image lightbox.  This mixes navigation, which continues to confuse me even though I can understand the logic behind it.  I think this warrants closer inspection or further discussion -- personally, my solution is to simply not present images and album covers together.

4.  Sort By -- In ACP and on front-end, offer the following options:

  • Most Views
  • Most Comments
  • Most Images
  • Highest Rated
  • Album Title Ascending / Descending
  • Last Updated Ascending / Descending
  • Last Created Ascending / Descending

5.  List Albums when Moving Albums -- When you move images, you need to determine the destination album.  The system currently lists ALL albums that you've ever created in a chronological order, and for me, that's already 400 albums.  It's almost impossible to slowly scroll through such a large and growing list of albums (or to be more blunt, I don't have the time or patience to go through such a massive list).  What would be better is if I could go through the category > album tree, which will narrow down the choices.

Must be nice to get a personal response...all I get is ignored.

On #1....I have moved items with ALL and it did move everything from all pages....not sure if that was this release or the prior.

On #5....I agree....I'm currently only up to 233 albums, but even an alphabetical list or a box where you can start typing the album name like "SE" and have everything pop

up that starts with "SE"....would work great.

And of course a folder for every day....not every month for storage.

We don't respond to every single feedback topic, it's just not practical to do so... don't take it personally. We do read everything and if we feel it's a good idea, we collect it and lodge it into our internal system for further review and prioritization. Big items that draw a lot of attention will usually get a follow-up once we know what we're doing; such as the PayPal subscription issue.

This received a "personal response" because I wanted to note #2 is likely to be a bug and not intended behavior.

We appreciate and notice all feedback, positive or negative -- even if we're unable to individually address each and every one.

Love your idea for #5 with the automatic fill in, although I think the tree navigation should be there by default.
