RIght now, we enable that setting globally for the page, and thus for the database that we embed in it.

My issue is that while I want the sidebar to show in the main page, which lists the latest records, I don't want it to be shown when I'm viewing a record.

So maybe you could add a setting in the database categories to override the sidebar display setting when viewing a record of the category.

I agree.  I think the record view should be a template itself.

The solution is to have a landing page and use the records feed to link the db with no sidebar.

I wish the records feed by default had a thumbnail and teaser view, then this would probably be a moot point for most people.

Oh well we have a plugin now
