Display database category on a custom page?

I know you can use the following to display a database in a custom page…

{database="2"}

Does anyone know what I'd need to type in order to get a category of a database? For example, if I wanted category 4 of database 2.

This used to be possible - I'll bring it up, but presently there isn't a facility for this.

We looked and it actually should be doable.

 

{database="x" category="y"}

Edit: Whoops - no it doesn't. It appears to because in that database I only have one category which contains any content and that happened to be the category I chose. The page was actually the same one as before and an error message was generated:

@bfarber Thanks for looking into it. I also get the same issue as the poster above.
