Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted June 19, 201311 yr It has recently been brought to our attention that the MySQL man pages have been relicensed. The change was made rather silently going from MySQL 5.5.30 to MySQL 5.5.31. This affects all pages in the man/ directory of the source code. https://blog.mariadb.org/mysql-man-pages-silently-relicensed-away-from-gpl/ does that mean anything for IPS company?
June 19, 201311 yr Author I dunno, use of mysql database and such? its a matter of time before they will charge for using mysql imho.
June 19, 201311 yr Update: Oracle is saying that this is a bug: http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=69512
June 22, 201311 yr One cannot just relicense GPL "like that" -- EVERY contributor to that source code file (or documentation page as the case may be here) needs to agree to relicense (or their changes to the file need to be removed/reverted before relicensing), and that is incredibly difficult to accomplish when one accepts contributions from the community at-large.
