That's where Invisionize Media comes in. A global sidebar is part of this hook I'm curruently working on with my app. It's still going to be awhile, but at least you can put your money where your mouth is. :)

Some might *think* that side bars are a waste but for publishers it's a necessity. Two of my friends run some of the largest forums on the web and they guess what, all have side bars.

Just because 2 of the largest forums on the web have sidebars does not mean that these two forums became the largest on the web because of their sidebars.

If you're interested in sidebars for ads, that's super easy. Check out Macuarium: http://www.macuarium.com/foro/index.php?showforum=12

There are ads in each forum, and each forum can have an ad/content specific to the forum. Easy to skin.
