Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Wolfie Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 There is a difference between what we want and what we require. We require better government officials, but based on what happens, a majority of people obviously want the crooks to remain there instead. Like that?
Management Matt Posted August 18, 2010 Management Posted August 18, 2010 I really appreciate the feedback. I love reading our feedback both good and bad because it helps shape our direction. However, I don't think that allowing customer votes to lead development is a good idea. For a start it will promote in-fighting and lengthy debates over every idea presented and you're essentially losing focus on the software's direction and just adding in anything that is deemed popular at the time. It would be like having a 'random feature' generator and the software would become a mess very quickly. As others have said, your feedback is *vital* to the development process but we have to act like a traffic controller and filter out the ideas and concepts that don't fit in with our 'vision'. If you have a feature idea, let us know. If it is sensible and gets a lot of support then we'll add it. For example, "Soft delete" was not on our internal lists for 3.1.0 but customers wanted it, it was sensible so it got included.
rastaX Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I cast my vote for a random feature generator........... :P
