I was wondering for huge forums do you use special partitioning on the disk for better performance and if the difference is very big.

For example:

/var 50gb
/usr 50gb
/root 50gb
/tmp (/dev/shm : 10 GB)
/swap 16gb
/home the rest of the disk

Or you use the disk with the default installation from Datacenter?

If you want better performance get faster hdd and ensure that you always have enough physical memory.
