BaRoN30s Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Hi looking for a way to prune back my database as ive just noticed from within my host its reached its limit of 114 MB & says "your database has now reached its limit & is write protected" :o so what happens now.? is 114 MB big for a forums database..? i dont have a very busy site & prob only get 2 dozen new posts per day if i delete old posts will this bring it down.? or is there some other way thanks for any help.
Alex K. Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 You may want to consider a different host. If they cap your database at that size, this problem will keep coming up periodically no matter what happens. Yes, deleting old posts will lower the size, but that's pretty much it. You shouldn't have to do that in most cases.
BaRoN30s Posted October 12, 2009 Author Posted October 12, 2009 thank you for the quick reply. i will contact my host asking them if this can be resolved by upping the size of the database & if not i will tell them i will be moving elsewhere.. is 114 MB big for a database..? like i say i dont have a very busy forums so cant see why its so big.. ?
Alex K. Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 114mb isn't very big at all for a moderately active community. At 20-30 posts per day, you'll easily hit it within a few years.
