vps best performance

hello.
i bought a vps with 512 up to 550 ram for my forums.
i want you to suggest me the best performance for my forum.
my server is running debian.my forum has 1200 members and 6,574 posts but it is growing fast.
can you tell me the best values for my php.ini and my.cnf?
