Suggestions for Improving the Messenger Feature

I've found a few annoying things with regards to the messenger feature that I'd like to see fixed in the next version of IPB:

  • Sending a copy of a PM to your e-mail: There is currently no way to e-mail yourself a copy of a PM. I would like to see either the notification e-mails you get when you receive a new PM include the full text of the PM, or have a function that allows you to e-mail it to yourself (perhaps under the forwarding option in the messenger section of the control panel). Otherwise, the only way to save a copy for yourself is to cut and paste it into something, which works, but isn't always all that convenient.
  • Track messages by default or allow for enabling tracking after a message has been sent: There have been several occasions where I wanted to track a message (so I knew when it was received), but couldn't because I forgot to enable tracking before sending it. I would like to see message tracking either enabled by default, or have an option to allow you to track a message saved in your sent folder after it's been sent.
  • PM message forwarding logo: The forwarded message icon appears as soon as you click the forward button even if you don't end up actually forwarding it to anybody. This can cause confusion because you may not be sure whether you accidentally forwarded it to somebody when you intended to cancel out of the forwarding screen. That icon should only be displayed when a message is actually forwarded not simply because someone went into that window.

There's an option to archive all your messages, I don't think there's a need for more than that.

Messages are always "tracked" in 3.0.

One further gripe: Most e-mail programs allow you to mark messages you've already read as unread, and some also allow you to flag important messages. At the very least I'd like to be able to mark PM's as unread.

There's an option to archive all your messages, I don't think there's a need for more than that.

I disagree, you can't archive individual messages so I don't feel that feature suffices.

Tick-box to include signatures or not.. PLEASE.

?!? I'm not sure what that means.
